The 17th-23rd of September 2018 marks the eighth annual Gas Safety Week; the aim of the week is to help raise awareness about the importance of gas safety.
Here are Gas Safe Register's top tips:
• Know the symptoms of CO poisoning; headaches, nausea, breathlessness, collapse, dizziness and loss of consciousness.
• If tenants smell gas or think there might be a gas leak, they should call the free 24-hour national gas emergency number immediately on 0800 111 999.
• Only employ a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer when having gas work carried out. Gas Safe Register is the official register for legally qualified engineers. You can find a registered engineer in your area by visiting the Gas Safe Register website at www.GasSafeRegister.co.uk or by calling on 0800 408 5500.
Louise Rankin, Associate Director of Goadsbys Property Management Department, comments ‘Gas Safety is particularly important in the private rented sector where the testing and safety of the gas appliances is in the landlords hands’ Louise continues ‘Goadsby have a dedicated member of staff that ensures landlords are reminded when the gas safety certificate is nearing its renewal date to ensure all gas appliances are tested and certificates issued by Gas Safe registered contractors’.
Goadsby pride themselves on ensuring they keep their landlords up to date and compliant and Louise urges any landlords looking to let their properties to contact her for advice and to discuss how Goadsby can ensure they remain legally compliant.
