With the new St Clements Surgery due to open in the autumn, the old surgery in Tanner Street is now being put on the market to rent by well-known local commercial agents Goadsby. The old surgery will be rebranded as St Clements Works to help avoid confusion and to highlight its new use as flexible business space.
Goadsby’s Divisional Director, Allan Pickering comments, “St Clements Works was built as offices by the County Council in the early 1970s. The building has a very generous parking provision, and coupled with a prime location just off the High Street, we are confident the space will attract much interest from a variety of users looking for low-cost business space”.
The building is owned by Kim Gottlieb, an ex/councillor who fought against the now much derided Henderson scheme, which the City Council had promoted for many years up until 2016. Says Kim Gottlieb, “I bought the building partly to avert a resuscitation of the Henderson scheme and partly to ensure the security of the surgery until the provision of new premises was certain. With both of those objectives now achieved, the next steps and how we will help pump prime the regeneration of the broader Silver Hill area, which now seems to be making good progress, will make for an interesting time”.
