Listed Building Approval

Listed Building Approval

21 July 2023
Listed Building Approval Acting on behalf of the freehold owners, Goadsby has received listed building consent for the external refurbishment and alterations to the building known as Beech Hurst, 153 High Street, Poole. Listed as Grade II*, Beech Hurst was built in 1798 for Mr. Samuel Rolles. This was at a time when Poole was a major port, trading with Newfoundland, Spain, Portugal and Italy; mainly with cargos of fish, wine, oil and dried fruit.

The proposed work will include repairs to the portico and front entrance steps, as well as an improved front wall and new railings - similar to the original means of enclosure. The improved appearance from the High Street will benefit the listed building and the Town Centre Heritage Conservation Area, within which the building is situated.
