Landlords Ensure You Have Sufficient Protection

Updated: November 16, 2021

Goadsby Lettings Manager Jacqui Sinnetta is urging Landlords to check they have the correct insurance for their rental property. Jacqui is concerned that this subject may have been overlooked, especially by first time Landlords. Jacqui adds “If a Landlord does not have Insurance for Lettings purposes, then they are leaving themselves and their tenants exposed through lack of protection and little financial back up should the worst happen. If a Landlord has been living at the address themselves and simply renewed the existing home insurance cover this is not adequate. Some Landlords are not aware of the existence of landlord cover, and innocently think landlord and residential cover are the same. Some had even thought the landlord option was too expensive so bought a residential policy instead.”

Jacqui continues “Whilst many people may never have intended to become landlords and possibly it is something they would rather not have to think about, the consequences of not putting some core protection in place could make it a much bigger headache for them than it already may seem. Advising any type of Landlord to obtain the correct insurance is one of the main points that Goadsby lettings staff highlight. It would be negligent for an Agent not to advise their Landlord of the hazards involved in not carrying out the correct procedures.”

Jacqui is an experienced Landlord herself and is offering Landlords the opportunity to have a one to one meeting to discuss any aspect of Lettings.
