Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council has published its Local Plan Issues and Options Consultation. This is effectively the blueprint to guide residential, commercial, leisure and other development in the conurbation to the year 2038. The consultation period extends to the 7th March, and representations have already been submitted on some of the more controversial issues. Commenting on the plan, Goadsby’s Director of Planning Peter Atfield states:
“Undoubtedly the largest issue is the Council challenge to the housing figure that has been set by the Government. Instead of planning for circa 43,000 new homes, the Council is considering a lower housing need figure of just under 26,000. This has implications for the density of development within the existing urban area, the green belt, and housing affordability. This will generate much discussion as the plan moves through the next consultation stages towards adoption in 2024.” For further information contact Peter Atfield B.TP MRTPI MTCPA FRGS on 01202 550100 or e-mail: peter.atfield@goadsby.com
