Following on from the grant of planning permission for the re-development of the former Odeon Cinema, Goadsby has now obtained consent on behalf of Libra Homes for the re-development of the former ABC Cinema, also situated in Westover Road, Bournemouth. The permission will allow for the construction of 670 m2 retail floor space on two levels, with 65 flats above.
As with the Odeon consent, the development has been designed to allow for construction in one or two phases. The site extends through to Hinton Road, with the new elevation helping to enhance the streetscape of this part of the town.
Commenting on the approval, Goadsby Planning Director Peter Atfield states: “The proposed mixed use development, designed by ARC Architects, will complement other nearby re-development schemes that are starting to transform Bournemouth Town Centre. In particular, this will be a boost for Westover Road, and help return it to somewhere near its former glory.”
