The Planning Department of Goadsby are pleased to announce that two planning permissions have been granted on properties in Bournemouth Town Centre that will help to revitalise the shopping area.
At 115 Old Christchurch Road consent has been issued to convert three under-utilised upper floors of the property to three flats. The proposal includes a new shop front with separate ground and upper floor entrances, and new retail display windows.
At 8 Post Office Road permission has also been granted to change the use of the former 6D Motion Theatre to a range of potential alternative retail, office, restaurant or community uses. This flexible consent will assist to attract various different businesses to occupy the commercial space, which is currently vacant.
Goadsby Planning Director Peter Atfield comments that: “Given the problems that town centre High Streets are facing – even before the lock down – these consents give an opportunity for more diverse businesses to trade, as well as attracting more town centre living to support the existing shops. These are small, but positive steps to improve the vitality and viability of the town centre of Bournemouth.”
In both cases Goadsby acted on behalf of the landlords.
