A Landlord's Guide to Electrical Safety
Updated: October 14, 2024
The Government introduced new Electrical Safety Standards Regulations on 1st June 2020.
These regulations require Landlords to have the electrical installations in their properties inspected and tested by a person who is qualified and competent, at least every 5 years.
Landlords will have to provide a copy of the electrical safety report to a new tenant before they occupy the premises and to their local authority if requested.
The national standards which need to be met are set out in the 18th edition of the ‘Wiring Regulations’ which are published as British Standard 7671.
If we can help you to comply with this legislation and/or instruct electricians on your behalf please do not hesitate to contact us.
